Hello readers!  Welcome to Srividhya's WORLD !  This is mainly about children's books - something I am very passionate about.  But you will also see some write-ups about my views and experiences.

It has been for more than a decade now that I have been an avid reader of children's picture books - yes, since I began reading to my own children.  I can never forget bundling up the kids in wintry Chicago and taking them to the local library for storytime or other such activity, or simply to browse and pick unlimited number of books generously loaned by American libraries.

As a child, I read a lot of books authored by Enid Blyton along with the Indian comic books like Tinkle and Amar Chitra Katha.  But now, there is so much more within reach - endless lists of children's books of all kinds from authors around the globe - Roald Dahl, Sally Gardner, Allen Say, Patricia Polacco, Ling Chang Compestine, Gloria Whelan, Anushka Ravishankar, Uma Krishnaswami, ... (it is impossible to name them all!).

It has been over a year now since I took a sabbatical from the working world.  I really miss being with children in my former role as pre-school teacher.  But I've donned a new coat now.  And it's one that still keeps me connected with them.

I am now a children's writer, trying to break into the big, competitive world of published children's books.

Why children's writing, you may wonder?  As I mentioned earlier, I am very passionate about children's books - perhaps I am still a kid at heart.

Some people think it is very easy to write stories for children.  They may seem easy to write, but it certainly isn't easy to write 'publishable' material.

But that's the challenge I am taking on!  And you are coming along on that journey.  I may occasionally share with you some of my work that I hope you will give some input on - love it, hate it, Delete, Esc, etc.

So come along and fasten your seat belts as I LIFTOFF!!
